Building a website on Wix is probably one of the biggest pet peaves for all website designers.

Here's reasons why building a website on Wix shouldn't be a thing.

1. There's No Strategy

Unless you are a marketing and design expert, it's safe to say that you don't know the first thing about an engaging website. Increasing your client list or receiving more quote requests is likely your primary goal for your site. Website designers, like myself, are educated and well versed in laying out a site that will give you exactly what your business needs.

2. It's Not Free

I have seen ads all over Facebook pushing users to create your Wix website for free. There are premium pricing options available that provide features that are likely must-haves for you. However, if you choose not to pay, you will be stuck with the Wix branding throughout the site, as well as their custom domain name. This is a classic case of getting what you pay for.

3. You Are Not Supporting Local

If you are a small business, supporting local likely is a message you encourage your audience to act upon. Wix is obviously not local – they are a franchise based in Israel. Reaching out to a local business for online support strengthens the local economy and establishes connections that are priceless.

4. There Are Better Options

These days, we typically build sites using Shopify or WordPress. Both options have their bonuses depending on what your needs are. Shopify is ideal for a starter site or if you want to sell products online without breaking the bank. WordPress is perfect for an aged business and the sky is the limit in terms of customization.
