When I opened a Pinterest account nearly 10 years ago, I never thought it would be the number one social platform driving traffic to my website AND that I would gain thousands of monthly viewers daily. Crazy, right?
That being said, Pinterest is not for every business. As you become more versed in your social media presence you will quickly realize which platforms are working and which ones are not.
Pinterest is best for industries that present tonnes of visual content such as travel, food, wellness, home decor and design. Sounds like you?
You need to solve your Pinterest keywords for the ultimate success. If you want to stay super organized, create a Google doc that segments keywords based on the content you are uploading.
Don't wing it! Access the perfect keywords by using the search bar on Pinterest. As you type out words that relate to the content you are posting, the search bar will populate related terms you can add to your list.
While uploading a pin, insert your keywords in the caption field. You can put keywords into the title of the pin as well, however there is a character limit for this field.

It's important to keep the content coming. As you create projects, write blog posts or develop products, factor in how to display these items on Pinterest.
The more you post, the more people you reach. However, quality of the pin should stay in tact because looks are everything when it comes to Pinterest. Users are on Pinterest because they want to look at pretty things, so keep that in mind when developing content.
Uploading new pins 2-3 times a week would be ideal and they should follow a vertical format – 1000px x 1500px is perfect!
Developing a series of graphics for a specific content piece is a good idea. For example, if you are uploading a pin to promote a blog post, create several graphics for the blog post using different imagery relating to the content.
Create covers for the boards in your profile for a clean, cohesive look. I created covers that demonstrate my calligraphy – keeping in line with my brand.
Another tip is to add boards that are specifically geared towards your branded content. These boards will house your blog posts, products and portfolio work. Adding descriptions to the board itself and identifying a category will help with your visibility.
Your Pinterest account does not have to be strictly business. Pinning cute outfits and mouth-watering recipes is totally fine. Sharing content from others will likely amp up the total of monthly viewers since it's a bonus opportunity for users to access your profile and explore the pins you've uploaded.
Develop a strategic list of keywords, upload pins on the regular and make sure your profile aesthetic is on point.
Remember, growth doesn't happen overnight. It's going to be weeks before you start seeing a big impact. Be patient, your hard work will pay off!
